A, Sorting Activity for Long and Short Vowels
Photo Source: First Grade a la Carte

If you're looking for an activity for your literacy centers or something to keep your kiddos occupied in the morning, check out these vowel sorting activities created by Kathy over at First Grade a la Carte! They provide practice in identifying long and short vowel sounds and there's an activity for each vowel - A, E, I, O and U - so your class is sure to get plenty of sorting practice. Simply have your students divide a piece of paper into a "T" shape with a marker or crayon, paste the two headings at the top (one on each side) and then sort the pictures by vowel sounds. Easy peasy!
