Looking for last minute Halloween ideas? Check out this cute writing craftivity from Jenn over at Finally in First! We hadn't heard of the book Where's My Mummy? written by Carolyn Crimi until we stumbled across Jenn's post, but if you get a chance to check it out, it sounds like a cute story! It's on this story that Jenn based her adorable Halloween writing craftivity...

Crimi's tale follows a baby mummy who isn't frightened by the usual Halloween monsters and 'scariness', but IS scared by a mouse. After reading the story, Jenn had her kiddos craft the baby mummy character. They used a paper plate, strips of manilla paper, and black construction paper!

Next, Jenn had her students complete the following prompt;

"When I get scared, my mummy..."

You can actually download the prompt paper for FREE over at her blog!

We've always been a fan of pairing art with writing and reading! What's cool about this particular writing craftivity is that it's not based on your traditional 'Halloween read' and, for younger students, it offers a great opportunity to talk about feelings, particularly what it's like to be scared and how to deal with situations that might make us nervous, scared, etc.
