Fun Fall Craft - Leaf Printing with Markers!

Photo Source: 123 Homeschool 4 Me

This fall craft project from Beth Gordon over at 123 Homeschool 4 Me breaks the mold a bit. While crayon leaf rubbings and preserving leaves are certainly fun, it's likely that your students have already tried their hand at these fall leaf projects. Beth's craft idea will still have your kiddos working with fall leaves (a great excuse for you all to head outside for a nature walk!), but with a little bit of a twist!

fall leaves (not dried out)

Creating Leaf Prints with Markers

Start by collecting nice leaves from your yard or the school grounds. Beth emphasizes that you want leaves that are intact and not dried or they will absorb the marker!

Use markers to color the surface of the leaf. Beth suggests going as fast as you can (again, so that the marker does not soak into the leaf) while also applying as much color as you can.

When finished, place the colored leaf between two pieces of card stock and use a rolling pin or something heavy to press the sheets of paper together.

Here's the finished product! Cool, right!?

After experimenting with multi-colored leaf prints, Beth and her kiddos created this lovely piece of fall art using solid colored prints and added a bit of pizzazz by matting the projects with complimentary colored construction paper.
