Fall and Thanksgiving Sensory Bin, Patterning, and Sorting Preschool Lesson Plan

We thought this sensory scavenger hunt exercise from the blog, Mommyhood, would be a great addition to your fall/Thanksgiving plans! Simply fill a bin with fall themed objects - pumpkins, turkeys, acorns, pine cones, colored leaves, etc. - then create scavenger hunt cards that contain a picture of the object to be "hunted" and the number to be found {in dot and numeral format}.

You might also consider creating other application cards...

  • Create object cards for students to use when sorting the materials in the bin
  • Using clip art images, create patterning strips - completed practice strips where students simply match items from the bins to the cards and incomplete strips where students are invited to finish the sequence started on the card

Be sure to visit Mommyhood for this and other fabulous fall activities!
