We love the idea of spending some time working with names at the beginning of the school year - especially with younger students! It's a great way to reinforce that words are made up of letters and that these groups of letters have meaning!

Searching for fun name activities, we stumbled across this great post over at Apples and ABC's and found this beautiful name display created by Michelle Griffo and her kiddos!

Prepare for the craft by writing each students' name on a piece of black construction paper with white crayon or chalk.* Armed with the paper, craft glue, and scraps of colorful paper, invite students to first trace a letter of their name with glue, then tear a piece of colored paper into small bits and collage the letter - selecting a different color for each letter.

[*NOTE: Students with longer names might need two sheets of construction paper in order to space the letters correctly.]

Vibrant Name Bulletin Board
