"Apostrophe Showers Bring May Flowers" Bulletin Board Idea

Spring Bulletin Board Idea for Grammar

How cute is this Spring bulletin board that was featured by Mrs. Durning-Leander over at K-2 is Splendid!? An adorable twist on "April Showers Bring May Flowers" and an excellent way to review (or introduce) your kiddos to contractions!

Contraction Flowers Activity

Provide each of your kiddos with a stem, two leaves and a colorful flower (all precut from construction paper). Then provide each student with a contraction and have them write the contraction in the flower with the parts of the contraction on the leaves. They can then glue their flowers together, just make sure they glue the leaves on the correct sides so you can read the contraction from left to right!

Apostrophe Showers Bring May Flowers

  • Background: Light blue bulletin board paper
  • Title: "Apostrophe Showers Bring May Flowers"
  • Border: Beehive border (a Spring-themed border would also work)
  • Decoration: 1) The Grass - cut green bulletin board paper the length of your board and up approximately 5". Then cut the paper in strips (don't cut all the way to the bottom!) to look like grass. 2) The Flowers - line your students' flower activities along the grass. 3) The Clouds - Cut 3 clouds from white bulletin board paper and write part of the title in each one. 4) The Rain Drops - Cut rain drops from blue construction paper and position them as though they are falling from the title clouds (you could also purchase raindrop accents to save time).

Mrs. Durning-Leander was kind enough to provide her templates as a FREE download in her TPT store (you can find them here).
