Ring in Spring - and FINALLY getting some much needed time outdoors - with this simple kite craft featured by Jessi over at Getting Messy with Ms. Jessi!

Easy Spring Kite

Be sure to check your classroom cupboards and/or school supply room before running out to get supplies. It truly is a simple craft and was put together to make use of items you most likely already have on hand! You will only need:

  • Paper plates
  • Markers or Crayons
  • Stickers {optional}
  • Assorted color crepe paper
  • Yarn
  • Classroom Staples: Scissors, Stapler, Hole punch

Provide each child with a paper plate (you will need to cut a hole out of the center of each plate beforehand) and supplies for decorating: markers, crayons, stickers, etc. (just be sure everything you provide is lightweight so it will not weigh the kite down). Also, make sure to staple on strips of colorful crepe paper to the bottom of the plate!

After the kites are decorated, punch a hole into two sides of the plate and string a piece of yarn through each hole (tying the string to each side). Then tie a longer piece of yarn to the middle of the string and head outside for some Springtime fun!
