"What's Hatching" Folded Books

Each student will need a piece of white paper and markers (crayons or colored pencils would also work). Have the students fold the paper twice to create a book - the ends of the paper should meet each other in the middle. If your kiddos are on the younger side, you may want to have this part already done for them.

On the outside flaps of the book have your students draw half an egg on each one. Make sure they include a jagged line to look like the egg is hatching upon opening! Have them write "What's Hatching" on the cover as well. Then, instruct them to draw a picture of an animal that would hatch from an egg on the inside of their books - it can be anything they'd like: a turtle, a snake, a chicken. Again, if your students are fairly young you may want to go over examples before beginning the activity.
