While Read Across America Week does focus on literacy, there are also loads of opportunities for learning accros different subjects! Check out this fun graphing activity! After reading several Seuss selections, students are invited to vote for their favorite book, creating a fun and colorful graph of the class' preferences!

As an extension, students can analyze the data 'collected' - i.e. tally up the number of votes for each column, determine which book had the greatest number of votes, compare the columns using greater than/less than statements, etc.

We love some open-ended art fun! Inspired by Seuss' Green Eggs & Ham, students used plastic easter eggs as stamps. Simple, fun, and a great way to connect art and literature! Along with the plastic eggs, white art paper and green craft paint are all you need to round out the supply list for this project.

For some fun reading, math, and crafting fun, here's a headband craftivity to go along with Seuss' Ten Apples Up On Top. Again, the craft is simple, but it creates a great opportunity for extended learning. Counting. One to one correspondence. Numeral writing. Fine motor skills. Not to mention, a fun wearable souvenier to remind them of what they learned!
