With Valentine's Day right around the corner, we've been searching for simple (and adorable) ideas you can easily incorporate into your lesson plans to add that cute seasonal flair! An idea featured by Rachelle over at What the Teacher Wants hit the mark.

Valentine's Day Monster Writing Activity

Rachelle kicked off the Valentine's Day writing activity with her kiddos by reading them a story. She suggests either My Monster Mama Loves Me So or Love Monster ((Not So) Scary Monsters). Either would be perfect to get your students geared up for the acitivity!

After the story is complete, have your students create their own monster with construction paper.

Then have them complete the provided worksheet by filling in the blank with a Valentine's Day-themed idea (candy hearts...yum!) and drawing a picture. Finish the activity by attaching the monster to the top of the worksheet and hanging them around your classroom for a super cute Valentine's Day display!

Monster Book - Writing Activity Variation

A second option provided by Rachelle is to use the completed worksheets to create a Valentine's Day classroom book. With this option, students would draw their monsters directly onto the worksheet rather than creating them from construction paper.
