With Valentine's Day right around the corner we've been on the hunt for 'heart-themed' ideas you can incorporate into your lesson plans. We ventured onto Jodi's Fun in First blog and hit the jackpot! If you're looking for a Valentine-themed craft and writing exercise, look no further!

Heart Craft

Provide each of your kiddos with a precut construction paper heart and allow them to decorate with a variety of craft supplies (anything from crayons to glitter to feathers to gemstones will do). We like Jodi's idea of completing the craft and writing on separate days to extend the Valentine's Day fun! But you could always complete together if you're running short on time.

Descriptive Writing Exercise

Ask your students to come up with a list of adjectives that descibe their hearts.

Once their lists are complete, allow them to use the lists as a guide for a descriptive writing assignment where they can tell you all about their wonderful hearts! And don't worry, Jodi was kind enough to provide the writing exercise printables for FREE!

Optional: After the writing assignments are complete, have your students glue their decorated hearts to the top half of a piece of construction paper with their descriptive writing assignments underneath. What a cute Valentine's Day classroom display!!
