2014 Winter Olympics Medal Count Worksheet

2014 Winter Olympics Medal Count Worksheet

A fun way to keep up with the Olympics - at home or as a class - is to select several teams to follow throughout the Games and track how many medals each earns! Themed for the 2014 Sochi Games, here's a simple printable that you and your kiddos can use for the duration of the Winter Olympics. Not only will it help you determine how many total medals each team has earned, but it will also help you keep track of which medals were awarded - gold, silver, and/or bronze.

If yo plan to do this as a class, we suggest adding the activity to your morning work, checking the medal standings at the same time each day for updates. Students can simply add tally marks to the appropriate columns and return the sheet to their work folder. At the end of the Games, students can then add up their tallies, writing the total number of medals awarded to each team and, perhaps, extending their learning by graphing the results, etc!

Included in the download is a resource page of the flags of many of the participating countries. Once you decide which teams to follow, the labels can be cut out and pasted to the worksheet. Of course, you can always create your own or have students simply write the team names in the spaces provided!
