Road Sign Shapes File Folder Game

Health & Safety Shapes Preschool Lesson PlanHere's a great little activity that offers the perfect compliment to your road safety lessons - a road sign shapes file folder game! We were unable to find the original source through Pinterest (unfortunately, the link was broken), but the image is really all you need in order to craft your own game.

To create your own:

  1. Simply find free printable road signs - Doodles and Jots offers a great freebie and we also found some unique railroad signs at Spoonful.
  2. Print a colored set of road signs onto white card stock, using scissors or an X-acto knife to cut them out.
  3. Trace the newly cut signs onto black construction paper or card stock, creating a set of silhouettes to glue to the file folder. [NOTE: Decorating the file folder with a road scene is optional!]
  4. To play, provide your kiddos with the colored road sign cutouts and invite them to match them to the appropriate silhouette on the game board. If you decide to use all of the signs downloaded, you'll have repeat shapes, but that should be a big deal!

Not only will this tie into your road safety activities, it's also a great way to review shapes!
