Do you have special plans for Groundhog Day? We found this sensory bin over at Teach Preschool and thought it would make a fun addition to your plans. While simple, it offers a great opportunity for sorting practice and playing games!

Game Ideas

  • Glue two wiggle eyes onto a medium brown pom pom. Hide the "groundhog" among the colored craft puffs and invite your students to take turns finding it!
  • Hide vocabulary/sight word, letter, or number cards among the pom poms. Invite students to take turns finding a card and identifying the word, letter, or numeral. If they identify it correctly, they get to keep the card. If not, have them put the card back in the box. The student with the most cards at the end, wins! [NOTE: For extra complexity, add a shadow card and sun card. If a student draws the shadow card, they must place all their cards back in the box. If a student draws the sun card, the game ends immediately and the student with the most cards wins.]

These are just a few ideas! Be sure to visit Teach Preschool for this activity and lots of other learning resources!
