Let It Snow! Winter Counting Activity

Mittens. Hats. Soft scarves. We just love the winter season! We stumbled across these fun winter inspired lesson activities from Sasha, Montessori teacher over at To The Lesson, and thought we'd pass them along in the event you're gearing up for the winter season too! While you'll have to head over to Sasha's blog for the full lesson plan, here's a sneak peek at our favorite activity - snowflake mitten counting!

The activity is simple to set up, super festive, and one we know your kiddos will have a blast with. Simply print and cut out mitten shapes on brightly colored card stock - or trace and cut them from felt of assorted colors - and add a numeral to each. Provided with snowflake manipulatives (i.e. erasers, confetti, etc.), invite your kiddos to identify the numeral on the mitten and count out the correct number. Not only is this great for building early math skills, it's also a fun fine motor builder!
