Usually we reserve talk of life cycles and butterflies for the spring season since it seems to fit so well, but we found this awesome project created by Stephanie at Somewhat Simple and had to share! {It's too good not to go in your inspiration folder for next year!} The concept is simple - the traditional butterfly life cycle - but the project materials are quite unique!

Supplies You'll Need

  • Paper plate
  • Leaves & twigs collected from the yard
  • Dried white beans
  • Dried rotini, shells, and bowtie pasta
  • White craft glue
  • Life cycle labels

Students will have a blast as they use the natural elements and dried food items to construct their own version of the butterfly life cycle - a fantastic hands-on learning experience! Stephanie also put together some fun activity worksheets to go along with the lesson that she offers as a free download on her site. Be sure to check it out!

  • {You'll love the various funky fonts! Just print, cut out, and glue!}
