Nativity Paper Dolls
We love this nativity scene paper doll set from Ning of Babalisme {featured by Toni at Design Dazzle}... and the application ideas are super fun! Instead of printing the characters onto card stock and dealing with the wear and tear issues, consider printing the pieces onto magnet paper! Paired with an inexpensive cookie sheet, your kiddos will have tons of fun acting out the Christmas story and creating their own stories using the various characters over and over!
Other considerations...
- Punch a hole at the top of each character, thread with fun colored yarn, and use the nativity pieces as ornaments for your classroom tree.
- Paste the nativity characters onto recycled toilet paper rolls to create 3D paper dolls.
- Create multiples of the nativity characters, inviting students to use them to complete a Christmas story interactive emergent reader - pasting the images on the appropriate pages. For instance, the first page might read, "God sent an angel to Mary. The angel told Mary that she would have a son. She was to name him, Jesus." Students would paste both an angel and Mary cutout. The second page might read, "Mary and Joseph traveled a long way to Bethlehem so they could be counted in the census. While they were there, Mary gave birth to Jesus. She wrapped him in a warm blanket and made a bed for him in the soft hay." Students would paste Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus to the page. The rest of the story would unfold in a similar manner...
