Following directions. Identifying sight words {including color words}. Numeral recognition. Pre-printing practice. These little color-by-number sight word flash cards make a fantastic addition to your literacy center! We found two options for you to choose from...

The first, from Annie at The Moffatt Girls, includes four cards to a page and invites students to rely on their knowledge of color words to help them complete the activity. The second, from Carisa at 1+1+1=1 and inspired by Annie's printables, includes two cards per page, using colored font to help students identify the color that corresponds with each number, but adding a word tracing element that provides your kiddos with some pre-printing practice.

  • By putting two sets together, students can play a sight word memory matching game.
  • Hiding the flash cards around the classroom, students can go on a sight word scavenger hunt.
  • Laminating the cards and holding them together with a binder ring, students can make a sight word flip book for future practice.
  • By spreading them around the floor, students can play all sorts of fun sight word review games - 1) Have students toss a bean bag to the sight word called, 2) Invite students to run and find the sight word called or rolled {see Carisa's 'Roll & Find' game}, etc.
