Invite your kiddos to try their hand at a little pre-writing practice with this fun pattern writing exercise. As students complete the activity {with a pencil or dry erase marker}, they will build hand muscles important for writing, learn proper pencil position, and discover the directional movement of writing. [NOTE: Once the exercise is complete, offer your preschoolers a pair of scissors for some extra fine motor building!]

While it's likely your preschoolers practice some form of sorting in their everyday play, challenge their skills with this fun bird/bird house sort! Students build fine motor coordination as they cut and paste the activity tiles to the proper column and, while it may be overly simplified, this can be a great introduction to differentiating between living and nonliving things.

Perfect for your literacy center, students will build vocabulary and sight word recognition as they search through this guided story worksheet for the high frequency words listed on their accompanying activity sheet. Consider assigning a specific stamp, sticker, or symbol to each sight word, inviting your students to place the identifying mark below/on the words in the story to ensure proper identification and completion.
