These adorable zoo animal flash cards can be found in the "Z is for Zoo" school packet at Oopsey Daisy {a blog designed and maintained by Alison a teacher, mother, and crafter who is kind enough to share her incredible creations!}. Along with other fantastic activity ideas and printables, these flash cards are sure to provide your preschoolers with tons of zoo animal fun!

Here are a few ways in which you can incorporate these cards into your lessons/curriculum:

baby block 1 Print, cut, and laminate the flash cards and have students use them to play a memory/matching game.
baby block 2 Print, cut, and laminate several sets of cards, inviting your students to practice simple patterning exercises {ABAB, ABCABC, etc.}.
baby block 3 Invite students to practice their sorting skills using unique parameters {i.e. animals I like vs. animals I dislike, animals I've seen vs. animals I have yet to see, etc.}. You might also consider using the cards to collect data about the class as a whole, having students 'vote' on different prompts {i.e. favorite zoo animal, least favorite zoo animal, etc.} and creating bar graphs of the results.
baby block 4 Have students try their hand at "Animal Charades". Place the zoo animal flash cards into a basket, inviting student a volunteer to draw a card, act out the animal for their classmates, and continue giving clues until their fellow students guess the animal on the card. You could do a similar "Pictionary" activity, having a volunteer draw the animal while classmates guess.
baby block 5 Have students practice ordering the animals several different ways - alphabetically, from biggest to smallest {this exercise will take previous research as to animal weights, etc. and can be a fun learning activity even if students do not get the order correct}, tallest to shortest, etc.

However you decide to use the cards, the adorable graphics and adaptability of the printable make them a great resource for the preschool classroom! Head on over to Oopsey Daisy for the download and, while you're there, be sure to check out the rest of the "Z is for Zoo" unit!.

Happy Learning! signature
