We're a huge fan of former kindergarten/now third grade teacher, Suzan, over at Krazy for Kindergarten! If you're struggling to find engaging math centers for your kiddos we highly recommend checking out Suzan's ideas. They're sure to fit in with your current plans or, perhaps, replace any tired activities that 'need a break'. Suzan creates such festive, colorful, and fun learning centers, it's hard to pick a favorite. However we really do think she did a great job setting up the wants/needs sorting activity!

Combining social studies with math, Suzan introduced the concept of wants/needs through literature, reading Vera B. Williams' A Chair for My Mother with her kiddos. As the story unfolds, students explore the difference between a need (something you have to have) and a want (something you would like to have) and use their new found knowledge to complete two sorting activities. We love Suzan's Santa bag filled with objects for students to classify and the sorting wall display is simply adorable!

Be sure to visit Krazy for Kindergarten for the details of this December themed math center as well as all of Suzan's fabulous learning ideas!
