Thanksgiving Storytelling Craft and Kindergarten Lesson Plan

Sarah Cooley, first grade teacher and creator of First Grader...At Last!, shared this awesome Thanksgiving craftivity that doubles as a way to remember and retell the story of the first Thanksgiving feast. {Not to mention, it's a great fine motor builder!} Students are provided with a white chenille stem and colored beads, the color of each bead representing a different part of the story, and invited to string them onto the pipe cleaner as the story is told. While you can certainly come up with your own version to tell, Sarah recommends reading the poem shared by Dr. Jean - it's clear, concise, and was created specifically for the bracelet craftivity! Additionally, as a extra visual representation/connection for her students, Sarah created cutouts of each important element in the story and placed them on her storyboard as she read the poem of the first Thanksgiving.

We think this is a fabulous, hands-on way to teach your kinders about the first Thanksgiving! For the full lesson idea, be sure to visit First Grade...At Last!
