Jillian over at A Mom With A Lesson Plan knows how to get her kiddos up, moving, and learning! This sight word bean bag toss is simply brilliant and, as we head into the colder months, perhaps necessary for helping your kinders build gross motor skills and get their "wiggles" out! {Not to mention, the fabulous sight word practice in a fun and low key environment!}

We were thinking, if you don't have the luxury of heading outside, you could also play this in the classroom, hallway, or gymnasium and, perhaps, spice it up for the holidays by...

  • Creating themed sight word cutouts to tape to the floor - pumpkins, pumpkin pies, turkeys, etc.
  • Creating themed bean bags! Jillian offers advice on creating your own super simple bean bags and we think a pumpkin shaped bag would be cute for fall/Thanksgiving. However, if shapes seem too involved, you might simply consider coordinating colors. For example, a white bean bag could be used as a "dollop of whipped cream". To play, invite students to identify the sight word on the game card and put the dollop of whipped cream on the correct pumpkin pie cutout!

There are tons of fabulous learning ideas at A Mom With A Lesson Plan so be sure that, when you head over for the bean bag directions and game suggestions, you stay and look around!
