A visit from the Easter bunny. Candy. Treats. Scavenger hunts. There's so much to be 'egg-cited' about during the Easter season! If you're looking to overhaul your math centers for the holiday, consider one {or more} of these great activities from Mrs. Ayers' KinderThemes!

Easter Candy Sorting

Place various types of Easter candy in a basket. Invite your kiddos to work in groups, sorting out the candy by type, and recording the number of each candy in the basket. Consider having students sort the candy in other ways:

  • By wrapper type {i.e. "Shiny", "Not shiny", "No wrapper", etc.}
  • By color
  • By size

Easter Candy Estimation

Place jelly beans of assorted colors in a clear jar or vase. Invite your kiddos to estimate how many pieces of candy they think are in the jar. At the end of the week, count the jelly beans and compare the final number to the predictions. Consider sorting the jelly beans by color to find how many there are, which color was represented most, which had the least, etc.

Easter Egg Size

Provide students with a laminated sheet of graph paper and construction paper egg cutouts in various sizes. Have students predict how many full squares {on the graph paper} will be covered by the cutout, then place the egg on the paper, trace it with a dry erase marker, shade and count the number of actual squares.
