Father's Day Science Kids Craft and Gift

We're always on the lookout for unique gifts for Father's Day. While we're sure they appreciate the cards and coupons, check out this fun out-of-the-ordinary gift from Helen at Curly Birds - it's "...a box of quick, weird and wonderful {sciencey!} activities for dads and kids to do together!"

Supplies You'll Need

  • Large plastic bin
  • Stickers and craft embellishments
  • Fun science experiments and their ingredients

Have your kiddos decorate the bin with stickers and other craft materials, then fill it with the chosen science experiments and the supplies needed to complete them.

Considerations...

  • Helen bought a book of experiments that fit the skill level of her kiddos and that looked like fun for her husband to do with them, but you could also troll around on the internet and print out the directions for several fun explorations. It may be a bit more time consuming, but it's also less expensive.
  • If you're a teacher and want to do something similar, pick one or two super simple experiments {i.e. ones that have few ingredients}, collect the materials {on your own or through student donations}, and have your kiddos create a "Shoebox of Sciencey Fun"! In essence, a 'mini' version of Helen's gift idea.
