Homemade - Spring! - Puffy Paint
Last summer, Cindy of Skip To My Lou sponsored a craft camp running for 30 days and featuring 30 bloggers with a unique craft to share {that's 30 crafts in all!}. Perusing the archives, we found this great recipe for homemade puffy paint from Melissa at One Crafty Mumma that seems just perfect for spring crafting! Here are a few ways we'd suggest incorporating this fun art material into your craft time!
Puffy Paint & Unique Utensils
With a variety of colors to experiment with, have your child(ren) or students explore the painting process with different painting tools:
- Q-tips
- Plastic condiment bottles {can be found inexpensively at Walmart}
- Various sizes and styles of paint brushes
- Paint scrapers
- Piping bags with various tips {like those used to ice cookies or cakes}
- Drinking straws
- Toothpicks
Project Ideas
- Have students decorate Easter egg cutouts to use as a classroom border, garland, or picture accent.
- Invite students to add "texture" and dimension to various spring animal drawings or cutouts - creating vibrant yellow feathered chicks, wooly lambs, furry bunnies, etc.
- Design a beautiful spring garden of puffy flowers.
- Have students study, research, then draw their favorite insect using the puffy paint.
- For some messy fun, provide students with a tray and, creating blobs of paint, see how many they can 'stack' on top of each other.
