We love this "recipe" bulletin board from Deanna Rogers at the Clayton County Public Library {via Kid Activities}. The fantastic thing is, it doesn't take too much work and it sends a positive message for the start of the school year!

Recipe Bulletin Board Idea

  • Background: White background paper.
  • Title: "Recipe for: A Great School Year!"
  • Border: Colorful patterned border, solid complimentary color trimmer, or cooking themed bulletin board border.
  • Decoration: 1) The Recipe Card. Find one of your own or a sample recipe card online. Use this as a guide to design your bulletin board, drawing in the "Title/Recipe for", "Ingredients", and "Directions" lines. Whether you use the graphic on your sample card to freehand a match or look at Deanna's design for elements to include {sack of flour, mixing bowls, wooden spoon, eggs, etc.}, draw these cooking related items directly to the board or cut them from colored construction paper to mount onto the background paper for future use. 2) The Recipe. Think of the things you want your students to value throughout the year - kindness, fun, creativity, hard work, etc. - creating and writing a special recipe onto the "card".
