Interactive Star Bulletin Board

  • Background: Black bulletin board paper.
  • Title: "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star".
  • Border: Complimentary solid color trimmer, colorfully patterned border, or star trimmer.
  • Decoration: 1) The Alphabet Stars. Begin by creating two card stock star templates, one slightly bigger than the other. Use the smaller of the two to create yellow star cutouts and the larger template to create cutouts from orange construction paper. Mount the yellow star onto the orange one and script a letter of the alphabet in the center. Add some fun borders around the edges of the stars if you desire, then arrange the cutouts haphazardly around the board and place one side of a small Velcro dot on one of the corners.Alphabet Star Cutouts2) The Object/Word Stars. Brainstorm a list of words/objects that start with each letter of the alphabet. Create a third star template {smaller than the first two}, using it to trace and cut star shapes from yellow construction paper, then script one word onto each or find, print, and paste an image of the object onto the cutout. Add the other side of a Velcro dot onto the back of each star and set these in a small basket or envelope at the bottom of the bulletin board. To play, students will attempt to match the object/word stars to the alphabet star with the appropriate beginning letter.Preschool and Kindergarten Literacy Interactive Bulletin Board
